Stairs Connecting Gallery and Above Ground:

These stairs followed on from the theme of 'separated' through the separation of each individual step into smaller components. The original design of the actual steps followed through to final production however the design of the balustrades changed quite dramatically. The original balustrades when placed with the entire model looked quite chunky and very out of place. The more developed ones however follow on from the idea linear wrapping seen in the gallery space which brings together the above ground and gallery space in a much more coherent way.

Stairs Connecting Gallery and Below Ground:

The stairs in the below ground studio again follow on from the theme of a 'spectrum'. Their shape symbolises and reflects the wave generally associated with a wave of colours in the spectrum. I didn't put balustrades in simply because I thought it would complicate the stairs too much and also I believe the stairs would appear aesthetically better without a hand rail.
